Pep Rally

In October 2003, YORK International hosted a Pep Rally to send our team off to El Paso, Texas for yet another competition. They experienced overwhelming support from not only the employees at YORK, but from many members of the City Family, Fire, Dispatch, Police, City Manger Andy Anderson, Assistant to the City Manager Scott Martin, and a special appearance from the Norman High Pom Squad. Assistant Fire Chief Mike Wilson and his crew supported the event with a wide array of emergency equipment ranging from a Brush Pumper to an 85’ Articulating Boom, in which rides were given to those that dared. During the rally the Combat Team presented YORK their first flag of accomplishment, signifying their success in Springfield where they qualified for the World Meet in Ottawa, Canada.

Following the Pep Rally, the Combat Team, and a few dedicated followers, loaded up to head for El Paso (an 11 Hour Drive) for the last competition before the World Meet. Although there were a few hiccups, they still posted a 1 minute 37 seconds allowing them to receive a second flag, which will be displayed at the Fire Station.

Next stop will be the World Meet in Ottawa, Canada, November 4-8, 2003, which by the way should be on ESPN so don’t forget to tune in and yell loud, it’s a long way from here!
